Volkswagen Caravelle 2019 – Driving Scenes
Few vehicles are able to challenge the high levels of practicality, durability and luxury the Caravelle offers. Already an established sector leader for refinement and quality, the latest-generation Caravelle raises standards further. Seating up to seven, the Caravelle features a clever floor-mounted rail system that enables seats to be easily removed or repositioned, offering a huge number interior layout combinations. Even when fully loaded with passengers, the Caravelle’s rear space ensures occupants have plenty of space to store their luggage and still have ample room to relax. All Caravelle models feature driver and passenger side sliding doors and offer a floor area of 4.3 m2 for short wheelbase and 5.0 m2 for long wheelbase models. The range consists of two models, SE and Executive, with both enjoying exceptionally high levels of safety, comfort and entertainment features. Two engine options are available for the Caravelle; a 2.0 TDI unit with 150 PS and a 2.0 BiTDI unit with 199 PS. Both are Euro 6 compliant and deliver impressive fuel economy and low emissions. For example, the 2.0 TDI 150 PS power plant can return up to 42.8 mpg on the combined cycle and has CO2 emissions as low as 171 g/km.
The Caravelle’s engines are also powerful and flexible – key qualities for vehicles that are built to work for a living. The 2.0 BiTDI 199 PS delivers smooth performance and generates a remarkable 450 Nm of torque. In addition, both engines are fitted with a seven-speed DSG as standard, while Volkswagen’s acclaimed 4MOTION four-wheel drive system can be specified on the 2.0 BiTDI 199 PS engine (see separate section for more details).
